Where do I start on all the superstars that made an appearance on the American Idol stage? All of the Top 12 American Idol contestants were in attendance tonight for the finale and they started out the night with “School’s Out” along side Alice Cooper. Siobhan Magnus and Aaron Kelly performed “How Deep is Your Love” with the help of the Bee Gees. Big Mike did a solo act with Michael McDonald and Dane Cook did a comedy act for Simon Cowell with “Simon’s Comments”. Others to add to the superstar performances was Joe Cocker and Janet Jackson.
The Top 6 girls came onto the Idol stage to perform “Beautiful” & “Fighter” where Christina Aguilera stepped in to join the girls. The Top 6 guys were brought in to perform “Maneater” in which Daryl Hall and John Oats took over to perform “Dreams Come True”. Crystal Bowersox had the chance to do a solo with Alanis Morissette when they performed “Ironic” Casey James also had the chance to do a solo with Brett Michaels of “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn”. Lee Dewyze had his chance to perform with Chicago and Carrie Underwood got her chance to perform her newest single “Undo It”.
In Simon Cowell’s honor, past Idol winners along with non-winning contestants got together to perform “Together We Are One” in which Simon was deeply touched. Simon stated on the American Idol stage, “I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. It’s been a blast. Thank you.” In the last final minutes of the show it came down to Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze. Lee Dewyze is the American Idol winner!!!
